The Huguenot Descendants

During our prayer watch one morning Zechariah 9: 11,12 came to me strongly.

"As for you, because of the blood of my covenant with you, I will free your prisoners from the waterless pit. Return to your fortress, you prisoners of hope; even now I announce that I will restore twice as much to you." NIV

I felt strongly to claim the descendants of the Huguenots for the Lord.

God made many promises to the Huguenots, both in the Word, and by the spirit of prophecy which rested on many of them. God had covenanted with them by theblood of Jesus, and many of them paid with their own blood for their loyalty to the covenant.

The Bible shows us that the Covenant that God made with the fathers applies also to the children of the generations that follow (eg Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, etc). Today many descendants of the Huguenots are in a spiritual desert; they are like prisoners in a waterless pit. Many don’t know God, both in France and scattered among the nations. But the promises of the Covenant still hold true.

Isaiah 44: 3-5 “For I will pour water on the thirsty land, and streams on the dry ground; I will pour out my Spirit on your offspring, and my blessing on your descendants. 4 They will spring up like grass in a meadow, like poplar trees by flowing streams. 5 Some will say, ‘I belong to the Lord’; others will call themselves by the name of Jacob; still others will write on their hand, ‘The Lord’s,’ and will take the name Israel."

As God poured the water of the Spirit and blew with the breath of the Spirit on the Huguenots ancestors in France, he promised to do so on their descendants, both those in France, and those in the nations where they were scattered because of the persecution they faced for their faith. It iss a Covenant made with the blood of Jesus, and even if, like the people of Israel, there were generations who were not were faithful to this Covenant, and who have spent their lives in captivity and in exile among the nations, God remains faithful to his Covenant. He remembers the fathers who were faithful, and he announces restoration and deliverance from the waterless pits, for their descendants!

IS 59: 21 “As for me, this is my covenant with them,” says the Lord. “My Spirit, who is on you, will not depart from you, and my words that I have put in your mouth will always be on your lips, on the lips of your children and on the lips of their descendants—from this time on and forever,” says the Lord. NIV

Where the fathers were a people of the Word and the Spirit, God made a Covenant with them for their descendants - they would also a people of the Word and the Spirit. There is a legacy to claim for them! We've already missed several generations and now is the time to

claim those promises for the current generation. God announces the restoration and restitution in this generation of what was lost

in past generations.

"Because of the blood of the Covenant... today I announce, I will give you double" - twice as much!

So, now is the time for the watchmen and intercessors to claim for the Lord the descendants of the Huguenots, both in France and in the nations! In their DNA they carry the seed of ‘the’ Hope - the Messianic Hope. They are prisoners of this Hope in their spirit.

In the Holy Spirit, let us call these prisoners of hope, who are in waterless pits, "Return to the fortress! Return to the God of your fathers. Come and drink of the living water that Jesus, your only hope, will give you".

Call to the four winds to blow and bring back these sons and those daughters to the God of their fathers.

IS 43: 5-7 “ I will bring your children from the east and gather you from the west. 6 I will say to the north, ‘Give them up!’ and to the south, ‘Do not hold them back.’ Bring my sons from afar and my daughters from the ends of the earth— 7 everyone who is called by my name, whom I created for my glory, whom I formed and made.” NIV

One intercessor in Ireland saw an image of an angel who stood at Perpignan, in the South of France, with a scroll in one hand and keys in the other hand. On the scroll was written the prophecies given through the Huguenot prophets, which were not yet fulfilled. The key to open the gates of the nation was for us was to pray and proclaim the fulfillment of these prophecies. (In Perpignan, at one stage, there were over 1200 Huguenots in prison for their faith and 300 of them were prophesying)

Let’s take these Scriptures and call in the descendants of the Huguenots because they carry the seed of revival which will usher in the great end-time harvest of the nations.

In the Musée du Désert in the Cevennes, which commemorates the century of persecution suffered by the Huguenots, there is a quotqtion from Is 6v13 which refers to the scattered descendants of God's people "Even though a tenth of its people remain in it, it will once again be burned, like a terebinth or an oak tree, which, thiough the tree has been felled, still contains holy seed" ISV

I believe that God still has reserved 'holy seed' in the descendants of the Huguenots and that this seed contains the seeds of revival which needs to be fired up again for the current generation.
